How to unscramble French letters
Enter the letters you have and choose French. For example, chien can make niche. Choose “Use all letters” to find exact anagrams, or search for shorter words from some of your letters. Each letter can only be used as many times as it appears in your rack.
Add ? or * for a blank tile, with up to two blanks and 20 letters or blanks in total. Set a minimum or maximum length, or narrow the results with a beginning, ending or contained sequence. Results can be sorted by length, alphabetically or by common usage. If there are many matches, use the result pages to explore them without freezing the interface.
Accents and vocabulary
For French, accent-insensitive matching folds letters such as é and è to e and expands œ to oe. Switch it off to match accented letters exactly.
The common search uses 50,000 frequency-ordered words per language. The extended option searches up to 180,000. These are general usage lists derived from wordfreq 3.1.1, with source material collected through around 2021. They can include names, variants and unusual spellings, and they can miss valid words. They are not official dictionaries for Scrabble or any other game; check your game’s accepted word list before playing a result.
Does this upload my letters?
No. Your selected language pack downloads from this website when you search. Your letters, filters and results are processed in a browser worker and are not sent to our server. There is no account or saved search history. The selected pack is about 0.8–0.9 MB compressed; older browsers may download the larger plain JSON version.
