Plan a small room around the furniture you own

A small bedroom often has to be a place to sleep, work and store everything. The hard question is whether the bed, desk and wardrobe can coexist without blocking the useful part of the floor. Space Studio lets you test that question with your own measurements. Start with the example, replace its dimensions, then add or remove furniture until it represents your room.

The planner handles one rectangular room at a time. Enter the clear interior width and depth in centimeters. Measure more than once if walls are uneven, and use the smaller useful dimension. The plan does not model sloping ceilings, curved walls or the route through your building. Represent a column or another fixed obstruction with a locked obstacle.

Use the outside size, not the mattress label

A 160 cm mattress does not mean a 160 cm bed frame. Measure the complete frame, headboard and anything projecting beyond it. For a wardrobe, include handles when they increase its footprint. The catalog provides 20 starting shapes, all with editable width, depth and height. These are examples, not dimensions of a particular brand or product.

Keep a measurement list beside you: room width, room depth, each opening’s position, each piece of furniture and the space it needs in use. Add up to 12 items and six openings. Every item is retained by the search; it never quietly removes a desk or shrinks a bed. To investigate a smaller purchase, explicitly edit that item’s size and run a new search.

Make opening and use space part of the plan

A wardrobe can fit against a wall yet still be awkward if its doors cannot open. Each furniture item therefore has a front use space, drawn with a dashed outline. Give a desk room for pulling the chair back; reserve enough space in front of drawers; choose an access side for a bed. The dark mark shows its front. Rotating the furniture also rotates this zone.

These values are your planning choices, not accessibility or building standards. Use spaces may overlap one another because they can be used at different times, but furniture cannot occupy them in a suggested layout. A door reserves a whole rectangle, conservatively covering its swing rather than simulating the exact hinge. A window reserves the depth you enter. Window sill heights and ventilation requirements are not calculated.

Compare suggestions and understand what changed

Choose whether you care more about connected open space or moving fewer items. The local search tries positions and quarter turns and returns up to three distinct arrangements that pass its checks. Locked items remain exactly where you placed them. The starting layout stays available for comparison, including any conflicts it had, so you can see what the changes achieve.

The comparison shows moved items, unoccupied floor area and an approximate area of connected walking-center positions. This last value comes from a 10 cm grid and your selected walking width. It is not total floor area and does not prove a continuous route from the door to every item. There is no mysterious percentage score. Review the drawing and clearance messages before applying a proposal.

Allow for measurements and tight corners

The measurement buffer is a reserve at walls and on each side between furniture items. A 2 cm buffer therefore asks for 4 cm between two pieces. Increasing it makes the search more cautious. The planner names overlaps, blocked use spaces, reserved openings and places where the buffer is not met. You can draw an imperfect arrangement to understand its problems.

The search is bounded to keep the interface responsive. Finding no proposal means only that this search found none. It is not proof that the furniture cannot fit. Check locked positions, reduce unnecessary clearance assumptions or investigate a different explicit furniture size. Do not reduce a real requirement merely to make a warning disappear.

Make precise changes on a phone

The four steps keep room settings, furniture, wishes and suggestions together. Select a piece in the plan or list, then type its position from the top-left corner. You can drag it with grid snapping, rotate it by 90 degrees or lock its position. Keyboard arrows move the selected item, and Shift uses 10 cm steps. Undo and redo let you compare your own experiments.

Switch to the spatial view to see the same furniture dimensions and heights in a cutaway illustration. It is an aid to understanding volume, not a photorealistic rendering or a ceiling-clearance check. Return to the floor plan for editing and measuring. Opening rectangles remain visible so the attractive view does not hide reserved floor space.

Keep a copy and print at the right scale

Saving on this device stores one project in this browser until you erase it or clear website data. It is optional and is not a cloud backup. Export a project JSON file to keep an independent copy or continue in another browser. Import checks the format and dimensions before replacing the active plan, and the replacement can be undone.

PNG gives you a simple image to share. The A4 PDF uses your selected scale and includes a 5 cm calibration line. Print at 100 percent or actual size, without fit-to-page scaling, then measure that line on paper. Choose a smaller drawing scale if the room will not fit the sheet. All exports are free and have no watermark; remeasure the real room before buying or moving furniture.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Space Studio free without an account?

Yes. Planning, suggestions, local saving and PNG, PDF and project exports are free. There is no signup or watermark.

Can it arrange my existing furniture automatically?

Yes, it tries new positions and quarter turns while retaining every item and its dimensions. It returns up to three distinct fitting proposals when the bounded search finds them.

Can I plan a bedroom with a desk?

Yes. Add a bed, desk and storage, then set a front use space for the chair and furniture openings. Enter actual external dimensions rather than mattress or desktop labels.

Does it prove that a room is accessible?

No. Walking-center area is a comparison on a 10 cm grid. The tool does not certify accessibility, emergency escape, structural work or a connected path from the door.

What happens to my room measurements?

The editor and search process them locally. Optional saving keeps one project in this browser; export a file for a separate backup and erase stored data in the tool when needed.

Why can the search return no layout?

Locked furniture, opening reserves or use spaces may prevent the sampled arrangements from fitting. The limited search may also miss a valid arrangement, so no result is not proof of impossibility.

Can I print a plan to scale?

Yes. Choose a PDF scale, print the A4 document at actual size and measure the 5 cm calibration line. A fit-to-page printer setting changes the scale.

Can I use it for a whole house or attic?

This version supports one rectangular room and rectangular obstacles. Angled walls, sloping ceilings, floor levels and moving furniture through stairways are not modeled.
