Your videos
Saved you some space?
The Video Compressor is free and has no watermark. A coffee helps keep it that way.
Trim
No upload. The video is compressed on your device by its own graphics chip, so even long clips are quick and stay private.
Works as an app. Install it on your phone or computer and it opens in its own window, even without internet.
How to compress a video
Choose your videos
Drop one or several videos here or pick them from your phone’s gallery. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV work.
Pick what you need
“Smaller file” keeps a good picture, “Exact size” stays under a limit such as 10 MB for Discord, “Just MP4” only changes the format. You see the new size before you start.
Save or share
Compress, look at the result, then download it or share it straight from your phone.
How small does a video get?
Phone videos are recorded with plenty of room to spare, so most of them shrink by 60 to 90 percent without a visible loss. A one-minute 4K clip of around 350 MB usually ends up at 20 to 40 MB in Full HD. The size depends on three things: the picture size (4K, 1080p, 720p), the frames per second and how much happens in the picture. A calm talking head compresses better than fast sport.
Why “no upload” matters
Most online video compressors send your file to their servers, make you wait in a queue and add a watermark or a size limit to the free version. Here the work happens in your browser: the video never leaves your phone or computer, which also makes it fast, because nothing has to travel over the internet. The GPS location that phones store in their videos is not copied into the new file.
Formats and devices
The Video Compressor reads MP4, MOV and M4V (also iPhone videos in HEVC), WebM and MKV, and always writes an MP4 with H.264 picture and AAC sound – the combination every phone, computer, TV and chat app plays. On devices that support it you can choose H.265 for an even smaller file. It runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebooks.
Tips for the best result
- For WhatsApp, Telegram and social apps, 720p is plenty – the picture size is the biggest lever.
- Use Exact size when a limit counts, for example 10 MB on Discord or 25 MB in Gmail.
- Cut away the parts you do not need with Trim – fewer seconds, smaller file.
- Screen recordings stay sharp with fewer frames per second: 24 or 30 is enough.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Video Compressor really free?
Yes. No account, no watermark, no limit on length or number of videos. The site is funded by fair advertising and by people who buy a coffee.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. Reading, compressing and saving all happen in your browser. Your videos are never sent to a server, not even to ours.
Does compressing reduce the quality?
A little, by design – but at the “Balanced” setting the difference is hard to see on a phone or laptop. Choose “Best” if you plan to edit the video further, or “Just MP4” to keep the quality and only change the format.
Can I compress videos on my phone?
Yes. Pick the video from your gallery, compress it and share the result straight to WhatsApp, Instagram or email. Phones with a recent chip handle Full HD videos in a few seconds per minute of video.
Can I use it as an app or offline?
Yes. Tap “Install app” (on iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen). The Video Compressor then opens in its own window and works without internet once it has been loaded.
Is there a size limit?
There is no artificial limit. Very long videos are limited by your device’s memory; on phones, videos up to about 2 GB work best, on computers much more.
