Drag pages by the handle, or use the arrows. Your changes apply when you create the PDF.
Your PDF
Makes very small files possible, but that text can no longer be selected or searched.
Add PDFs or photos to begin.
Your files stay on this device. The PDF Studio reads and writes PDFs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Password-protected PDFs need their password removed first. PDFs that only block copying are added as images.
How to compress a PDF
Add your PDF
Drop it on the box or choose it. You can add several files; they become one PDF.
Choose a size limit
“Under 2 MB” is selected for you, a common limit of job portals and online forms. Pick 10, 5 or 1 MB if you need another.
Create and download
The result shows the final size. If the limit cannot be reached, it tells you how close it got and what would help.
What gets smaller – and what doesn’t
Most of a PDF’s size usually comes from images: scanned pages, photos and illustrations. The PDF Studio lowers their resolution and JPEG quality step by step until the file fits, starting with the smallest change that might work.
Pages with real text are copied as they are, so the text stays sharp, selectable and searchable. If a file is mostly text and still too large, you can allow text pages to become images as well; the file gets much smaller, but that text can no longer be selected.
Tips for very small files
- Remove pages you don’t need first: an empty back side of a scan costs as much as a full page.
- Scans made in color are often three times larger than the same scan in gray. If you can, scan documents in black and white or gray.
- When the result warns that small print may be hard to read, open the PDF and zoom in before you send it.

Frequently asked questions
How small can a PDF get?
It depends on what is inside. Scans and photos shrink a lot; pages with real text are already small and stay as they are. Most applications with a few scanned certificates fit under 2 MB.
Is compressing my PDF free?
Yes. There is no account, no daily limit and no watermark, and you can compress as many files as you like.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read and compressed in your browser on this device. It is not sent to LoschaZ or anyone else.
Will my PDF lose quality?
Only the images in it lose resolution, and only as much as the limit needs. Text pages are copied unchanged, so they stay sharp and searchable.
Why is my PDF still too large?
Usually because it consists of pages with a lot of text, vector graphics or embedded fonts, which images don’t help with. Allow text pages to become images, remove pages or choose a higher limit.
