Put application attachments in a checked PDF order

Select the requested generated documents, reorder the imported attachments and check the downloaded pack from start to finish. Resume Studio keeps those operations distinct, so an enclosure mentioned in a letter is not yet an attached file.

The short answer

Read the application instructions before making one combined PDF.

Let the employer's request decide the package

Read the application instructions before making one combined PDF. A portal may ask for separate uploads; another recipient may ask for one file. Resume Studio can create a pack, but it does not decide which documents an employer requires. Make a short checklist of requested items and match it to the files you actually intend to send. Do not include an unrelated certificate merely because it is already on your desktop.

Understand the fixed document order

The “Application pack” tab lets you include or omit the generated cover page, cover letter and resume. Selected generated parts appear in that order, followed by attached files. The attachment arrows reorder the imported certificates and references among themselves; they do not move the generated resume ahead of the generated letter. If the recipient needs another arrangement, plan a separate PDF workflow instead of promising that every part can be dragged anywhere here.

Prepare attachments as documents, not camera-roll items

Open each source and check every page before adding it. PDF, JPG and PNG are the formats named in the interface. A sideways photograph or a second page that was never scanned cannot be fixed by changing the order. Use a readable source copy with a meaningful filename. A protected PDF may be rejected; obtain an appropriate unprotected copy rather than expecting the pack feature to bypass protection.

Choose an order that tells the relevant story

Within the imported attachments, place the evidence that supports the requested role in an order you can explain. For example, a relevant training certificate may come before an older unrelated course. That is an illustrative editorial choice, not a universal hiring rule. Keep multi-page PDF documents intact when reordering files. The arrows move an attachment as a file; they are not a page-level editor for rearranging pages inside that PDF.

Distinguish the attachment list from the actual pages

Typing names into the cover letter's “Enclosures” field describes documents; it does not attach their bytes. Conversely, adding a file to the pack does not guarantee that a manually typed enclosures sentence is current. Compare the wording, selected generated parts and actual attached files before exporting. This catches a common mismatch where a letter mentions a certificate that was removed during a later edit.

Check the exported PDF from first page to last

Choose “Application pack as PDF” and open the download separately. Confirm the recipient details, date, generated pages and attachment order. Inspect small text on certificates at a useful viewing size and make sure no page is sideways or duplicated. The pack preview does not replace checking the entire final PDF. Read the destination's current file limit rather than taking a general portal-size hint as the rule for this application.

An illustrative two-attachment rehearsal

Suppose a recipient asks for a cover letter, resume and two named certificates in one PDF. Omit the cover page if it was not requested, include the letter and resume, then add the two certificate files. Put the required certificate first among those attachments using its up or down arrow. Write a four-item checklist and compare it with the saved PDF. This rehearsal is a way to detect an omission before upload; it does not claim that this order suits every employer.

Save the project and keep the source attachments

“Save project” preserves the editable application details, but attachments are not stored inside that project file. Keep their originals in a separate folder and add them again when reopening the project. The registry says text and photo may remain in local storage on this device, while attached files stay only in the open tab. A later visit can therefore restore your resume text without restoring the certificate files you previously added.

Keep the application version aligned with the advertised request

Use the recipient's stated document request as the checklist for the exported packet. For an illustrative vacancy asking for a CV and two certificates, identify those actual files before assembling the packet. A certificate mentioned in the Enclosures text is not thereby attached. Conversely, an attachment included in the packet should not be described by an outdated filename from a previous application. Match the wording in the generated documents with the actual imported evidence and check the resulting PDF pages. This is a consistency check, not a claim about what every employer requires.

If a certificate arrives later, return to the editable application and import that file again as needed. The saved project does not contain imported attachments. Keep a small external record of which certificate files belonged to the accepted packet, including their intended order. When replacing a file, inspect both the boundary before it and the first page after it so you notice an accidentally retained older copy. Open the new combined PDF rather than relying on its familiar title. A clearly named revision and a checked page sequence help prevent sending last week's packet with today's cover letter. Keep the recipient's request beside this review instead of assuming a particular attachment count is universally correct.

Questions you might still have

Can I move the generated resume before the letter?

The selected generated parts use a fixed cover-page, letter, resume sequence. The arrows reorder imported attachments after those parts. If the requested package needs another arrangement, use a suitable later PDF step rather than assuming these arrows move the generated documents.

Does Save project include the certificates?

No. The project keeps editable details, while attachments must be added again. Store the source certificates separately and keep a finished delivery PDF if needed. Reopening a restored text project is not evidence that its previous attachment list has returned.

Can I move a single page inside an attached PDF?

The attachment controls move the file as one item. They do not edit its internal page order. Correct the source document before adding it, then check the final combined PDF. A meaningful filename helps identify which whole attachment is being moved.

Does the Enclosures field attach the documents?

No. That text describes enclosures on the letter. Add the actual files in the pack separately and compare both lists. If you remove a certificate or change the package, revise the written description too so it does not promise a missing document.

Should every application be one PDF?

Follow the recipient's current instructions. Separate portal fields can require separate files, while another recipient may request a combined document. The tool supports a package, but its availability does not determine an employer's preferred submission format or required evidence.

What if a protected certificate cannot be added?

The tool can reject a protected PDF. Obtain an appropriate unprotected source from the document holder or use a permitted alternative. Renaming the extension does not remove protection. Check the resulting pages for legibility and completeness before treating the issue as resolved.
